The Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation announced Tuesday, March 2, 2010 the launch on a trial basis of the digital transmission of television programs from stations Troodos Vavatsinias frequency UHF33. It will broadcast four channels: RIK ONE, TWO RIK, ERTWorld and Euronews.

This is the first phase of the planned transition of RIK to digital broadcasting, which will cover a large area over Cyprus. The second phase, which will be completed in the coming months, will fully cover the urban areas, and the third and final phase will cover the countryside.

The viewers can receive programs in digital if they have a television set with built-in decoder MPEG4/H.264 or connect an external decoder MPEG4/H.264, (digital decoders are available for purchase in our store) and the existing external antenna. The antenna need not be changed.

Digital broadcasting will be done in parallel with analogue transmission (as is now) until June 30, 2011. By decision of the Cyprus Republic, July 1, 2011 terminated the analogue transmissions.
